Change Your Life - Change Your Bread
It may be bit of an exaggeration to say that a simple recipe can change your life. But I can attest to what a difference knowing how to make this bread has made in many homes on my own small island where I live.
If you haven't tried the now uber-famous NYT no-knead bread, then you have an incomplete experience of life. I'm sorry. It's that simple.
Use the basic recipe as a starting point and then improvise. I make a legendary olive bread using 18 green Sicilian olives and a 5" sprig of fresh rosemary blended in the dry ingredients. I have made Cheddar cheese and jalepeno bread mixing in - yes - Cheddar cheese and chopped peppers in the dry ingredients. My standard Vitamix Reinforced with Goodness loaf has the following: a handful of sunflower seeds, 1 tbsp of hemp powder, 1 tbsp pumpkin seed powder, 1 tbsp ground flax seed, 1/2 tsp of dried kelp powder, 1/2 tbsp gomasio - in addition to the basic recipe. I've also made a great dried tomatoe with basil by adding chopped dried tomatoes and a dollop of pesto. Let your imagination guide you! Dazzle your family and friends with this bread that is drop dead easy to make. You don't even need the special lidded cast iron pot. Use two loaf tins - one for the bottom, one for the lid. I've tried this and it works just fine. Don't have two loaf tins? Use one loaf tin and cover with tin foil. This is also an oven-tried solution.
Since having learned how to make this bread I no longer buy bread - anywhere. And you won't either. Each time you lay out $7 - $9 for a designer loaf of bread, come back to this page. Eventually, you will gain the nerve to try it. And when you do you will shake your head in disbelief. And then, you'll go back to the counter and cut yourself off another slice of that amazing bread .... that cost you somewhere around $2 to make.
